Purgatory 10/17/17

 My NEW ADULT series on AMAZON
~~~~
Doppelganger
A myth with no name, no flesh, no sex, and no identity, unless I wear one of you.
~~~~
I push myself into your body, absorb everything that is you, and wear you like a glove
~~Then there are two of us~~

As she slowly walks toward me I can smell desire. Not human desire, a musky, animalistic desire—essential, dark, and demanding. Her blouse comes off first and she tosses it at my feet, steps out of her cutoffs, and stands before me in a triangle of black lace.

Our eyes lock. I feel hair on my neck prickle as my spine shifts and mouth salivates; heart hammering, jaw tightening, I bend and pick up her clothes. She's a breath away, waiting, feet parted, lace riding fingers as she runs them over her hips. I grit my teeth and place the clothes in between pink breasts framed in rich tanned skin; when my knuckles connect with soft creamy flesh my body tightens, prickles another warning, and it's all I can do to keep from taking her right there.

I can hear his heartbeat; I feel the heat of his gaze, the strength behind his touch. Crap! My head is spinning—my head, not the human's I'm wearing. I never do this. I amuse myself and let them do the dreaming, the what-if's, and get off on that. I don't contemplate commitment, relationships, love! I just get my high on. I trade them their lives for a quick fix.

Damn it, sex with this guy is not going to be a quick fix. I want...
I realize I'm grabbing for my clothes before they fall to the floor, and he's stepping back, shaking his head. What the hell?

Sexy laugh, body to die for, and eyes to get lost in, Gaire intrigues me, attracts me, and churns up feelings I've never felt before.

But he turns out to be the ultimate bad boy.

I run, and swear never to look back. Only problem is, I can't forget him.

Interview with Author Susan Stec

Q:  Can you tell us about your most recent book?
PURGATORY takes the reader into in the sewer's DOWN UNDER where a mythical world exists and then brings the reader topside where a doppelganger searches for the perfect relationship through a series of female hosts.

Q:  What drew you to the paranormal romance genre with Purgatory?
They say you should write what you know. I write what I love, and humor is always a big part of my work, even if I tread on the Darkside. I've always been an avid reader and my favorite genres are paranormal, urban fantasy, and thriller/horror.

Q:  What’s been your most challenging hurdle on the road to publication?
Funny, but my biggest challenge is not in the actual publication process. It's always been the crazy characters and their refusal to follow an outline. I have control issues - so do they. We argue constantly. They always win—makes me weep.

Q:  What was your favorite moment in the journey?
When I received my first 5 star review on Amazon, and meeting the people I've met along the way.

Q:  Which authors had the most influence over you growing up?
As a child, I have to say The Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. I still enjoy reading them. As an adult Stephen King, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Patricia Briggs, and a plethora of independent authors.

Q:  When did you know you wanted to take the plunge into the writing world?
After I wrote my first book in The Grateful Undead series for the women in my family. It was supposed to be a Christmas present. I had never written before, but wanted to immortalize the crazy and wonderful relationship we have. Well, someone said... and then someone offered... and then someone did... and that's when I found myself on Amazon.

Q: What’s the craziest thing you’ve done in the name of book research? Most interesting fact you uncovered?
How a 15-year-old serial murder could kill someone and logically get rid of the bodies. And the most interesting fact" You can't burn a body in a woodstove. Don't try it, not even with a recently butchered deer carcass during hunting season. It doesn't work, makes a huge mess, and... well...it smells. Really, really bad.

Q:  Of all the novels and stories you’ve written - which one is your favorite?  Why?
The Grateful Undead series; probably book 3, Blood, Sweat, and Demon Tears, because the main character's sister is in one hell of a mess (literally); confined to servitude with the demon, Rafael. The demon gives the main character an hPhone to communicate with her sister. Only problem, time moves like Hell in the Abyss. Talk about a buzz-kill during inappropriate moments. In their attempt to retrieve the little concubine, THE GRATEFUL UNDEAD team ultimately finds themselves knee-deep in vamp critters, demons, rogues, and a host of new and colorful characters, when the mission takes them from their home in Florida to the streets of New Orleans.

Q:  Any advice (from a writer’s standpoint) for the novices out there?
Don't give up. Write what you know, and the biggest thing is to write for you, not what you think wills sell.

Q: All right - now that I’ve hammered you with the big questions, let’s tackle my favorite (and geeky) quick ten,. starting with:

Q: Paper or Plastic?
Paper

Q: Steak or Tofu?
Steak

Q: Beach or Mountains?
Mountains (woods actually)

Q: Country or Rock-n-Roll?
Rock-n-Roll (can't write without it)

Q: Leather or Lace?
Lace

Q: Angels or Demons?
Demons

Q: Paper or Digital?
Digital

Q:  Silent Film Classics or Cheesy B Rated Horror?
Cheesy B Rated Horror

Q: Twilight or True Blood
True Blood

Q: Coffee or Tea?
Coffee

 Q: Thank you for indulging me.  Before we wrap this up, can you tell us what you're working on now?   I'm working on book 2 in my Dead Girls series, Dead Guys Never Shut Up. And I’m co-writing a YA (untitled at the moment) about an angel who has to earn his wings by saving an alpha teen when she becomes very belligerent and self-abusive about accepting her destiny—taking over the father’s wolf pack when she comes of age.

Q: What's next? An adult, erotic romance novella series, Femme Fatale. The first in the series is a country Christmas and will be released before the holiday.
